Wildcraft Sessions for Schools

Schools can choose to host a wildcraft half day at their school grounds or in suitable woodland. This isn’t forest school but is a minecraft themed scavenger hunt. Look on the Wildcraft page for more details.

It is suitable for year groups 3 to 6.

You could provide it as:

  • a fun reward/end of term event

  • a relationship and trust building exercise

  • an introduction to outdoor learning

These sessions will require that you provide two staff for a class of 30, as only Sally is available in term time. These staff will have active roles in the game.

The half day Wildcraft rate for schools is £300 – which includes a pre-visit meeting with the class teacher and risk assessment and all resources.

Home ed groups rates can be discussed.

Forest school information

Forest school can offer your children many things.

It is a branch of outdoor learning which is long term and holistic in its approach.  It builds on the natural interests of children and uses play and outdoor activities to help meet their needs.

With forest school, you can:

  •  help your children to create community and connection to each other and nature and thereby promote well being

  • add another layer of valuable input to your children's social, cognitive, emotional and physical development

  • ensure your children have practical, hands-on opportunities to build self efficacy and self esteem

  • provide a child friendly environment which can benefit language development and improve capacity to learn

  • build better relationships between school and parents and pupils and improve engagement

If you’d like to find out about forest school, there are any number of websites available. The best place to look is The Forest School Association. Here’s links to two videos from them which give comprehensive explanations about the benefits of forest school.
